Maybe mom was right!

On 23 February 2017, the renowned institute Imperial  College London  published an analysis of 95 different studies involving close to 2 million people in the International Journal of Epidemiology.  They studied and assessed the eating habits of up to 43,000 cases of heart disease, 47,000 cases of stroke 81,000 cases of cardiovascular disease, 112,000 cancer cases and 94,000 deaths.

Although they have not reviewed all aspects of the individuals’ lifestyle, what they have determined is that a higher intake of fruit and vegetables means a longer life.  Whilst they haven’t pinpointed what it is in the fruit and vegetables that produces the longer life there is speculation that the higher intake of fruit and veg reduces the damage to a person’s DNA. Maybe we should eat our 5 fruit and veg a day.
